NEW SEASON OF TBILISI FASHION WEEK KICKED OFF ON OCTOBER 19
The fi rst premiere project ‘Skyline Residence’ of Development Company m2 presented Tbilisi Fashion Week 2016 with a new
concept, new names and new faces. Fashion Week opened on October 19 and lasted for fi ve days. The event was supported
by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, the Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia and
Tbilisi City Hall.
The project started a new era in the fashion industry by giving opportunities for beginner and little – known young designers
to showcase their works and potential at the event.
The offi cial seasonal collections showroom opened in the main atrium of the general sponsor TBILISI MALL on October 18.
Geomodels girls presented the collections, available for everyone and displayed there for two weeks.
On the initiative of Tbilisi City Hall, this year’s Fashion Week offi cially opened on the renewed Aghmashenebeli Avenue on
October 19 and hosted the exhibition of Nino Sukhishvili’s costumes and a performance by the Sukhishvili Georgian National
Ballet. Entrance to this event was free of charge. The same evening guests attended CHUBIKA’S event, where the Georgian
designer showed her works with a performance and an installation.
In the following four days, 20-23 October, all events took place in Rooms Hotel Tbilisi.
The lineup of Tbilisi Fashion Week brought together a number of young and talented designers: MACH & MACH, Mariam
Gvasalia, LTFR, Ani Datukishvili, Anastasia, Tamta Shindelishvili, Salome Tkabladze, Lasha Jokjadze, Nini Chelidze and Giorgi
Kvezereli. A famous Ukrainian designer Lara Quint also showed her collection in Tbilisi.
Representatives of various major international editions also attended Tbilisi Fashion Week, with the help of the Georgian
National Tourism Administration. This list included: VOGUE ITALIA, BRITISH VOGUE, Vogue Russia, ELLE Russia, Barneys
NEW YORK, Fabulous Muses Blog, Harper’s BAZAAR Kazakhstan, British GQ, END magazine, ACHTUNG MODE, Lufthansa
Magazine, Planet Fashion, Nargis Azerbaijan, Fashion To Max, Vogue Japan, www.le21eme.com.
Renowned stylist and blogger Oksana On also participated and arranged a master class on ‘Influences of Cinema and Art
on Fashion.’
Buyers from Alma-AtaSaks Fifth Avenue, Portrait Store, PODIUM MARKET, KUZNETSKY MOST, Al Duca d’Aosta ITALIA, and
SEASONS SHOP appeared at Tbilisi Fashion Week to explore the collections of local designers and production made in
Georgia.
