1. METEKHI CHURCH
One of the top sites for tourists, adding to the extraordinary silhouette of Tbilisi. Metekhi church is located on a rock on the Mtkvari River bank and directly facing the Abanotubani bathing area and Narikala fortress ruins. It is the perfect place to explore the history of Vakhtang Gorgasali, enjoy sulfur baths and appreciate the history of Georgian religious tolerance.
2. TURTLE LAKE AND THE ETHNOGRAPHICAL MUSEUM
Turtle Lake is a perfect place to escape the summer heat get there by taking the ropeway from Chavchavadze Avenue. This is one of the greenest places of Tbilisi. Come back down on foot and pop into the Ethnographic Open-Air Museum on your way.
3. SAMEBA CHURCH
Sameba Church – the main Orthodox Christian church in Georgia located on Elia Mountain, in Avlabari. It’s a huge church with a beautiful yard, pleasant view and a cultural center inside.
4. TBILISI OPERA THEATER
No matter if you attend a performance or not, the rich interior of the Opera House will still impress you. It was the first Opera Theater in the Caucasus and you can explore its history with a special tour.
5. Walk down from the Funicular to Mama Daviti Church and Pantheon – in order to experience true Tbilisi, its culture and history.
